Liminal Thinking 🤔 By Dave Gray

Liminal Thinking

Imagine🤔  this – you have been wanting to change yourself or your situation.

Become healthier, start a new business or resolve that persistently bugging situation at work.

You are self-driven and motivated –  so you try a strategy to change your situation. Nothing happens.

Tweek a strategy a bit – same result, aka no change.

Not to be deterred, you try a completely new stance – and wait – sometimes patiently, mostly impatiently.

What happens? Zilch – no success.

Now the disappointment sets in. You are fed up, and your crankiness shows.   A dear friend suggests that you hire a coach.

You think – what is there to lose (except some moolah and time). Lots have been lost anyways.

You give in and get yourself a well-reputed change management expert – though with a lot of skepticism.

Guess what? Surprisingly change happens.

Why? Did the expert possess a magic potion?

Because the “coach” is a part of your problem, yet he is not. He is on a”threshold.” And change happens at the “boundaries.”

Is it any surprise that the best ideas often strike when you are somewhere in between the state of being awake and asleep –  on a threshold.

Liminal means “on edge” – a place where significant change happens

A profound concept explained through the author’s personal experiences and real stories and, most importantly, powerful one-liners.

Ever since we as a family have read this book, statements like “obvious is not obvious” and “map is not a territory” have become very common in our daily conversations.

Each concept is broken into bite-sized chapters. A book that prods you to bring about a change by changing your beliefs. Sounds complicated? Won’t be intimidating once you allow Dave to take you through the foolproof way to “create a change.”

Definitely worth investing your time in.

A caveat here – for me, one time is not enough; I keep returning to this book repeatedly and never fail to learn something new.

Thanks to Dave’s guidance, I could finally figure out what prevented me from writing all these years. Do read and if you feel proud enough, share what change you were able to bring about in your life.

You can buy the book at amazon.
